Native to the tropical forests of Bolivia, Calathea orbifolia thrives in warm, humid environments with filtered light.
Native to: Calathea orbifolia is indigenous to Bolivia, where it grows under the canopy of tropical forests. In its natural habitat, it experiences consistent warmth, high humidity, and dappled sunlight.
Water: Maintain consistently moist soil for Calathea orbifolia, ensuring it is neither waterlogged nor dry. Use distilled or rainwater to prevent leaf tip browning caused by minerals in tap water. Water when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry to the touch.
Light: Provide bright, indirect light to mimic the plant's natural understory environment. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while insufficient light may cause the vibrant patterns to fade. A spot near an east or north-facing window with filtered light is ideal.
Humidity: High humidity is essential for Calathea orbifolia, with levels above 60% being optimal. To achieve this, use a humidifier, place the plant on a pebble tray filled with water, or mist the leaves regularly. Choose a room with more natural humidity such as a bathroom.
Temperature: Maintain indoor temperatures between 18°C and 24°C, avoiding drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations. Temperatures below 15°C can stress the plant, leading to potential health issues.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for.
Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
