Philodendron

Most philodendrons thrive in bright, indirect light and prefer their soil to dry out slightly between waterings. They enjoy warmth and humidity, making them well suited to kitchens and bathrooms. Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry. In spring and summer, this is typically once a week; in winter, every 10 to 14 days. Overwatering is the most common mistake and can cause root rot. Self-heading types like Philodendron Black Cardinal and Philodendron Painted Lady are slightly more sensitive to soggy soil, so always check before reaching for the watering can. Using a well-draining aroid mix helps prevent waterlogging.
