Scindapsus pictus ‘Silver Hero’ is a cultivar of satin pothos, an evergreen tropical vine native to Southeast Asia—specifically Bangladesh, Borneo, India, Java, Peninsular Malaysia, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Taiwan, and Thailand. It has heart-shaped, matte green leaves dappled with striking silvery-white markings, and in its natural habitat, it climbs tree trunks using aerial roots, making it perfect for training up a moss pole or letting trail from a shelf .
It grows moderately fast, with vines reaching several metres within a year or so.
Native to: It originates from humid, forested regions across Southeast Asia and Oceania .
Water: Allow the top part of the soil to dry out before watering—typically once every 1–2 weeks. It’s more tolerant of drying out than of sitting in wet soil, which often leads to yellowing leaves and root rot .
Light: Thrives in bright, filtered light. Place within about 1 metre of an east‑ or north‑facing window. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves and wash out the variegation
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (40–50%), though it tolerates normal UK indoor conditions. In winter, consider using a pebble tray or humidifier to avoid brown leaf tips .
Temperature: Ideal indoor range is 18–29 °C. Keep above 15 °C; avoid cold drafts.
