Description

Three flowers to grow for your own teapot, boxed as a gift for anyone who would rather pick their tea than buy it. Roman chamomile gives apple-scented, daisy-like flowers for the classic cup; bee balm (Monarda didyma) adds a citrus-and-mint note; and Zebrina mallow (Malva sylvestris 'Zebrina') brings lilac blooms striped with purple. All three return year after year, and bees love every one.

Sowing and growing

  • Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile): sow on the surface outdoors April to June or September; 20 to 30 cm tall, flowering in summer
  • Bee balm 'Panorama Mix': sow indoors March to April, barely covered, at about 20°C; germinates in 10 to 20 days, grows to 60 to 90 cm and flowers mainly from its second summer
  • Zebrina mallow: sow outdoors April to June, 5 mm deep; germinates in 15 to 20 days, reaches 60 to 120 cm and flowers June to September, often in its first year
  • All three like sun or light shade and well-drained soil, and all are hardy

What you receive: a gift box from Piccolo Seeds holding three packets: Roman Chamomile, Panorama Mix Monarda (Bee Balm) and Zebrina Mallow, with growing tips and tea recipes inside. Piccolo states the seed is open-pollinated and non-hybrid.

Which flowers in the Floral Teas collection can I use for tea?

Roman chamomile flowers are dried or used fresh for chamomile tea. Bee balm leaves and petals make a fragrant citrus-mint brew, and Zebrina mallow flowers can be dried and steeped. The box includes recipes to get you started.

Will the plants flower in the first year?

Roman chamomile and Zebrina mallow usually flower in their first summer if sown in spring. Bee balm normally needs a winter before it flowers well, so expect its main display in the second year.

Is the Floral Teas collection a good gift?

Yes. The three packets come in a printed Piccolo gift box with growing tips and recipes, so it is ready to give to a gardener or tea lover. Sowing starts in spring, and chamomile can also be sown in early autumn.

What is your returns policy?

We always aim to make sure our customers love our products, but if you do need to return an order within 14 days of purchase (not including plants*), or any items are damaged, we’re happy to help. Just email us directly at hello@growtropicals.com, and we’ll take you through the process. 

Please note: we cannot be held liable for any packaging costs should the original packaging be discarded.

*Unfortunately we cannot accept returns of undamaged plants as these are perishable items and are not saleable upon return. If a plant is damaged, we will compensate for this as per our live arrival guarantee.

When will my order arrive and how much is shipping?

When placing your order, you can choose from three dispatch speeds to suit your needs: Economy (prepared and shipped within 4-5 days), Standard (3-5 days), or Express (dispatched the very next day). Please keep in mind that "dispatch" refers to the time it takes our team to prepare and pack your items before handing them over to the courier, not the total delivery time.

Shipping costs are based on your total order value and will be calculated at checkout, with free shipping automatically applied to all orders over £60. For a full breakdown of shipping prices see our Help Centre.

Additionally, to protect the health and quality of our live plants, orders containing plants are exclusively shipped Monday through Thursday. This careful scheduling prevents your plants from being stuck in a dark shipping depot over the weekend, ensuring they arrive at your door vibrant and healthy.
