🌿 Plant Care Tips
An unusual, bold and vibrant species with camo patterned foliage in dark and lime green. Native to Central & South America.
- Although large, Caladium leaves are papery thin and delicate so direct light will cause searing brown spots, scorching and/or bleaching.
- Caladium grow from bulbs or tubers, meaning they will go dormant in winter and old foliage must be cut back at this time to make way for new, spring growth.
- This variety has been wrongly identified as Colcasia and Alocasia before recently being reclassified as Caladium praetermissum - praetermissum meaning neglected or overlooked, referring to its incorrect identification.
Growth pattern: Compact herbaceous geophyte
Water: When the top 2-3cm of soil becomes dry.
Ideal Position: East facing
Light: Bright, indirect or filtered light.
Recommended Substrate: Jungle Mix
Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
