Ardisia gigantifolia is a rare tropical valued for its striking foliage. The plant features elongated leaves that can appear dark brown to deep olive-green, marked by prominent bright green veins. This plant can size up quickly in the right conditions, hence the name epithet 'gigantifolia'. The surface of the leaves is often textured or slightly bullate, with finely toothed margins. New growth tends to emerge in a lighter shade before maturing into its characteristic darker tone. Indoors, it maintains a compact and upright growth habit.
Native to: Southern China and parts of Indochina, including Vietnam and Thailand, where it grows in damp, shaded forest understories.
Water: Keep the potting medium evenly moist without becoming waterlogged. Allow the top third of the substrate to dry slightly before rewatering. Avoid standing water around the roots.
Light: Prefers bright filtered light. Protect from direct sun, especially during midday, as this can scorch the foliage or cause leaf colour to fade.
Humidity: Thrives in humidity levels between 60–80%. High humidity is essential for long-term health, making this plant ideal for terrariums or naturally humid rooms with consistent airflow.
Temperature: Grows best between 20–30 °C. Do not expose to temperatures below 12 °C. Protect from cold drafts and drying heat sources.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for.
Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
