Episcia 'Harlequin' is a vibrant cultivar of Episcia, known for its strikingly colourful foliage and occasional small, bright flowers. Its leaves are typically variegated with shades of green, silver, pink, and red, creating a "patchwork" or "harlequin" effect that makes it an attractive foliage plant even when not in bloom. In addition to its beautiful leaves, it produces small, tubular flowers in shades of red or pink, adding a pop of colour throughout the growing season. This trailing plant is well-suited for hanging baskets or small containers, where its cascading habit can be enjoyed in full.
Episcia 'Harlequin' is a relatively easy plant to care for, provided it has a warm, humid environment. Often referred to as a "flame violet" due to its bright flowers, this plant is a great choice for terrariums or humidity-friendly indoor areas, adding a tropical look to any space.
Native to
Episcia species are native to the rainforests of Central and South America, where they grow as ground cover plants in humid, shaded environments. Their natural adaptation to filtered light and high humidity makes them ideal for indoor settings that mimic these conditions.
Water
Keep Episcia 'Harlequin' evenly moist but avoid waterlogging, as its roots are susceptible to rot. Water when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry, using room-temperature water to prevent shock. Avoid getting water on the leaves, as this can cause spotting; bottom watering or watering at the base is often effective.
Light
This plant prefers bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can scorch its delicate leaves, while low light may reduce variegation and slow growth. An east-facing window or a spot with filtered light is ideal for maintaining its vibrant foliage colour.
Humidity
Episcia 'Harlequin' thrives in high humidity, ideally around 60% to 80%, making it well-suited for terrariums or rooms with a humidifier.
Temperature
This plant prefers warm indoor temperatures between 18°C and 26°C. It does not tolerate cold temperatures below 15°C, so keep it away from drafts or chilly windows in winter. Consistent warmth will support its growth and encourage regular flowering throughout the growing season.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for.
Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
