The Crocosmia 'George Davidson' is the classic yellow-flowered montbretia and the rarer counterpoint to the more familiar red-flowered cultivars. A Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit holder, it carries arching wiry spikes of clear, butter-yellow, six-petalled trumpets from mid-July through August, set against fresh-green, sword-like foliage that holds its texture beautifully through the season.
This is the cultivar to reach for when you want the late-summer fireworks of a montbretia in a warmer, sun-drenched colour palette rather than the obvious red. It pairs beautifully with bronze grasses, dark-leaved cannas and orange dahlias for a glowing hot-coloured exotic scheme that lasts well into autumn.
Plant in generous drifts for the strongest effect in a sunny border. George Davidson works brilliantly in a hot-coloured exotic border alongside hardy gingers, cannas and bronze grasses, or in a Hardy Exotic patio scheme. See our what to expect from outdoor plants guide for seasonal notes.
A favourite for a pollinator planting where bees and hoverflies work the bright flowers, and a strong choice in a large patio container for sunny late-summer drama.
Every Crocosmia 'George Davidson' we send is a strong, well-rooted plant, hand-selected for healthy foliage and balanced shape, and packed with care to arrive in superb condition.
All plants are covered by our 7-day live arrival guarantee. We pack every order in protective, sustainable packaging designed to keep your plants safe in transit, and every plant is checked before it ships.
