Description
Orchid bark is an excellent organic aeration medium to add into substrate blends. From fine to large it can be used in bioactive grow bins and chunky aroid mixes respectively, with endless possibilities in-between. We even grow some orchids exclusively in bark. Just be careful not to overwater as water retention is long-lasting and a dry surface in pots can be deceiving.

Got to say love growtropicals! Everything is always spot on. Not impressed with the quality of medium bark hubby ordered for me though. It's very dark, wet and not like the usual quality. It looks more a mix or fine and medium. Disappointed

Sadly this bark is nothing like the image in the listing. It is much finer and the bark bits are much thinner than pictured with lots of debris inbetween. As a regular customer I am afraid I have to express disappointment. The bark is fine grade at best and will compact with the debris over time. It is not appropriate for phalaenopsis and cattleya. It may just about be ok for some dendrobium and possibly oncidium types but I still would not use it. It will degrade too fast. I added a photo - on the left is GT "medium" grade bark, on the right is medium grade bark from another supplier.
