🌿 Plant Care Tips

Monstera obliqua 'Suriname' is a rare and highly sought-after variety within the Monstera genus. It's one of the obliqua clones with minimal fenestrations making it an interesting addition to any Monstera collection.

Native to
Monstera obliqua is a group of plants (or maybe related species) that are  indigenous to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, with documented occurrences in countries such as Suriname, Peru, and Brazil. This clone is from Suriname and in its natural habitat, it thrives as an hemi-epiphytic climber, ascending tree trunks in the humid understory.

Water
Maintain consistently moist soil for Monstera obliqua, allowing the top 2-3 inches to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while insufficient moisture may cause leaf wilting. Adjust watering frequency based on indoor temperatures and seasonal changes, reducing during the plant's dormant period in winter.

Light
This plant prefers bright, indirect light but is highly sensitive to direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate leaves. Placing it near a north or east-facing window with filtered light is ideal. Insufficient light may result in stunted growth and reduced leaf fenestration.

Humidity
High humidity levels are essential for Monstera obliqua, ideally between 80-90%. Regularly mist the leaves with soft water and consider using a humidifier to maintain adequate humidity. Its preference for high humidity makes it suitable for terrarium environments.

Temperature
Monstera obliqua thrives in warm indoor temperatures, ideally between 18-26°C (65-80°F). It is sensitive to cold drafts and should be kept away from temperatures below 16°C (60°F) to prevent stress and potential leaf damage.
