Geogenanthus rhizanthus is a tropical understory plant known for its unique growth habit and foliage. This species produces leaves and inflorescences that emerge directly from its rhizomes at or just below the soil surface, resulting in flowers that appear to grow from the ground. The plant's leaves are typically dark green with a glossy texture and deep purple undersides, and its small, three-petaled purple flowers feature fringed edges.
Native to
The Amazon rainforest, specifically the western regions of Colombia and northern Peru, where it grows on the forest floor in humid, shaded environments.
Water
Prefers consistently moist soil. During the growing season, water at least once per week, adjusting frequency based on indoor climate conditions. In winter, reduce watering but ensure the soil remains slightly damp.
Light
Thrives in low to medium indirect light, mimicking its natural understory habitat. Direct sunlight can cause leaf scorching, so placement in shaded indoor areas is ideal.
Humidity
Requires moderate to high humidity, ideally between 50% and 80%. Increase humidity by misting the plant regularly, using a humidifier, or placing the pot on a tray filled with water and pebbles
Temperature
Favors temperatures between 18°C to 25°C. Avoid exposure to temperatures below 10°C, as cold conditions can harm the plant.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for.
Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
