No - this is a clumping bamboo, not a running one. It expands only slowly outwards from a tight clump and won't send out invasive underground runners, so it needs no root barrier.

Very little is needed beyond watering. Keep it well watered, especially while establishing and in pots, mulch in spring, and thin out any older or weaker canes at the base if you want to show off the stems.
