A glowing performer for the shadier patio, Begonia 'Harvest Moon' is a trailing tuberous begonia smothered in warm apricot-yellow, fully double blooms that cascade on tumbling stems from early summer right through to the first frosts. The colour has that soft, ripe-fruit warmth its name suggests, gently ageing to peachy tones, and the rounded mid-green leaves set it off beautifully. For anyone wanting a non-stop summer display in a hanging basket or tall container, this is one of the most rewarding begonias you can grow.
As a trailing begonia, 'Harvest Moon' is happiest in light or partial shade, sheltered from strong midday sun and drying wind, which keeps the flower colour rich and the foliage unscorched. Plant the tuber in a free-draining, peat-free container compost with a little added grit, and keep it evenly moist without ever letting the roots sit wet. A fortnightly high-potash feed once the buds appear will keep the show going. Expect it to reach around 20-30 cm tall with stems trailing 30-45 cm.
It is worth remembering this is a tender, half-hardy begonia (RHS hardiness H2) rather than a fully garden-hardy plant. Stand it outside only once the risk of frost has passed, then in autumn lift the tuber before the first cold snap, dry it off and store it somewhere cool, dark and frost-free until spring. Treated this way, a single tuber will reward you for many seasons.
If you have been searching for standout begonia plants for sale in the UK, this is a connoisseur's choice. Each plant is grown with care and dispatched in prime condition, ready to light up your garden, doorway or patio with that signature harvest glow.

Begonia 'Harvest Moon' needs partial shade and moist but well-drained soil. It is frost tender and must come under cover for winter.
Tender (H2): down to around 1°C. Tolerates cool conditions but not frost; protect or bring in over winter.
Frost-tender (RHS H2), so this is a half-hardy tuberous begonia rather than a fully garden-hardy plant. Stand it outside once all frost has passed, then in autumn lift the tuber before the first frost, dry it off and store it somewhere cool, dark and frost-free over winter to replant the following spring.
Happiest in light or partial shade, sheltered from strong midday sun and drying wind. A bright spot out of harsh afternoon glare gives the best flower colour and keeps the foliage from scorching.
Grow in a free-draining, peat-free multipurpose or container compost enriched with a little extra grit or perlite. Tubers dislike sitting wet, so good drainage in the basket or pot is essential.
Keep the compost evenly moist through the growing season, watering at the base rather than over the blooms, and never let pots stand in water. Feed every couple of weeks with a high-potash (tomato) feed once flower buds form to fuel continuous flowering.

Jun-Oct · Yellow
Deciduous
This tuberous begonia dies back for winter. As leaves yellow in autumn, cut the stems down near the tuber, then lift and store the tuber dry and frost-free, or mulch heavily if left in a sheltered spot.
Toxic to cats, dogs and horses if eaten, with the tuber being the most harmful part; can cause oral irritation, drooling and vomiting. May irritate skin in sensitive people.
