Basil 'Red Rubin' Seeds

Sow indoors from March to May, when there is enough light and warmth for steady growth. Basil needs about 20°C to germinate well, so a heated propagator or a warm windowsill helps early in the season. Move plants outside only once June nights stay mild.

It has the familiar sweet basil flavour with a slightly stronger, spicier note. The colour is the main difference, and it holds well in salads and as a garnish. In pesto it gives a darker, dusky result rather than bright green.

Yes. It reaches about 40 cm and grows well in a 20 cm pot on a sunny windowsill. Keep the compost moist but not soggy, and pinch out the growing tips regularly so the plant branches rather than flowering early.

*Unfortunately we cannot accept returns of undamaged plants as these are perishable items and are not saleable upon return. If a plant is damaged, we will compensate for this as per our live arrival guarantee.
