Anthurium Red Crystallinum (NSE × Tezula) is a special hybrid that features distinctive, velvety‑textured, heart‑shaped leaves with a reddish hue in emergent foliage and strong contrasting veins. This cultivar is a cross between mother plants originally from NSE Tropicals and Tezula Plants, both in Florida, USA, both of which are known for producing collector‑grade anthuriums.
Native to:
As a cultivar, this hybrid does not have a natural wild origin, but it is derived from selections of the species Anthurium crystallinum, which is native to rainforest margins in Central and South America (from Panama to Peru) and is known for dark green, velvet leaves with prominent white veins. The leaves of this hybrid manifest as broad heart‑shaped blades, emerging often with a reddish or bronze flush that transitions into deeper green as they mature. The veins are often a contrasting lighter tone, and the surface is velvety to the touch.
Water:
Use a well‑draining but moisture‑retentive substrate, such as a mix of fine bark, peat or coco‑coir, and perlite or pumice. Water when the top part (roughly the top third) of the substrate begins to dry, but avoid letting the roots sit in standing water. Consistently soggy substrate can quickly lead to root rot. During UK winters, reduce watering frequency slightly as growth slows.
Light:
Provide bright filtered light, near an east or north‑east facing window is ideal. Some gentle morning sun or late afternoon sun, if diffused, is acceptable. Avoid strong direct midday sun, which may scorch the delicate leaves or fade the colour contrast. Insufficient light can result in weak growth and reduced leaf contrast.
Humidity:
This plant benefits from elevated humidity, ideally around 65‑85%. In UK indoor settings, you can achieve this by using a humidifier, growing in a cabinet or tent, placing the pot on a tray of damp pebbles (ensuring the base of the pot is not sitting in water), or grouping with other humidity‑loving plants.
Temperature:
Maintain indoor temperatures between 18 °C and 26 °C, and avoid exposure to temperatures below about 15 °C. Protect the plant from cold drafts or sudden temperature drops, which may stress the foliage or halt growth.

All plants are shipped in their plastic nursery pot unless otherwise stated.
Plant pot sizes can fluctuate +/- 1cm.
We recommend to always size up your decorative pot by 1-2cm larger than the stated plant pot size. For example if you are purchasing a 12cm plant, you should purchase a 14cm decorative pot to ensure it will fit correctly.
We pride ourselves on the love and care with give our plants. Our entire team are plant obsessives at heart and so we go above and beyond to care for the plants we have in stock.
That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for.
Some plants such as Begonia, may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
