Should I leave my plants outside in summer?

It’s tempting to give your houseplants a summer outdoors, but in the UK, weather is unpredictable, making it risky. Sudden cold snaps, strong winds, or heavy rain can stress sensitive plants. Direct sunlight can also burn leaves, especially for tropical or shade-loving species.

Outdoor exposure can increase the risk of pests like aphids, slugs, and spider mites. If you do want some fresh air for your plants, place them in a sheltered, shaded spot and bring them indoors at night or during extreme weather.
