It depends on the pot, so check the product page. Cover pots such as the Bergen Jute Lined Planter have a waterproof liner and are made to hold a plant in its plastic nursery pot, which keeps any run-off inside.

Pots for planting directly, such as the Mondo pots, come with a saucer, and the Elho Greenville has a built-in water reservoir with drainage. With a cover pot, tip out any water that collects in the bottom after watering.

Match the pot to the plant's nursery pot. The Bergen Jute Lined Planter is 18cm across and takes a standard 14 to 15cm nursery pot, while the Positano Geo Planter is 7 x 7cm and suits small plants and cuttings.

Each product page lists the pot's dimensions. If you are buying a plant at the same time, check the plant's listing for its pot size, then choose a pot or hanger such as the Bright Macrame Plant Hanger, which takes pots up to 12cm.

Our hangers include macrame from Indonesia and recycled sari fabric from Nepal. The Bright Macrame Plant Hanger takes pots up to 12cm, and the Recycled Sari Plant Hanger is about 130cm long, made from sari offcuts.

A hanging plant tends to dry out faster than one on a shelf, because warm air rises, so check the compost more often. Water when the top 2 to 3cm of compost feels dry.
