Our Co-Founder Jacob Joins Plant Heritage Board!
We’re delighted to share some exciting news from the GrowTropicals team. Our co-founder and CEO, Jacob, has been appointed as a Trustee of Plant Heritage, a charity dedicated to conserving the diversity of cultivated garden plants and protecting important plant collections for future generations.
It’s a role that feels particularly fitting for Jacob, whose work has always centred around plants, their diversity and making unusual species more accessible to a wider audience.
What is Plant Heritage?
Plant Heritage is a UK charity working to safeguard the diversity of garden plants. Through its work with individuals, gardens, nurseries and organisations, the charity helps identify, document and conserve important plant collections so that valuable horticultural knowledge and plant material are not lost.
With so many plant varieties disappearing from cultivation over time, the work Plant Heritage does plays an important part in preserving the plants we grow and enjoy today, while helping ensure they remain available for future generations.
Bringing a wealth of experience to the Board
As the founder and CEO of GrowTropicals, Jacob has spent years building a business around a passion for plants and plant diversity. What began as a small bedroom business has grown into one of the UK’s leading retailers of rare and unusual houseplants, with a growing team, extensive plant collections and customers across the country.
Plant conservation isn’t just about keeping plants in collections. It’s about maintaining the knowledge, history and diversity that sit behind them too. As growers, collectors, retailers and plant enthusiasts, we all have a part to play in making sure that diversity continues.
