Euphorbia lenewtonii is a compact, densely branching succulent that builds up into a low cushion of slim green stems. The branches are cylindrical and lined with small paired spines and rows of raised tubercles, and mature plants can spread far wider than they are tall. Small yellow cyathia, the flower structures typical of the genus, appear at the tips.
Origins
It is a Tanzanian species, known from the Kondoa District in the centre of the country. That gives it a warmer, more tropical background than the South African euphorbias, so it likes steady warmth and does not want to be left cold and wet.
Care
Give it as much bright light as you can, up to and including some direct sun on a windowsill. Water when the compost has dried through, soaking it and letting the surplus drain, then holding back through winter so it stays on the dry side. Warmth matters more for this one than for most succulents, so keep it comfortably above 10C and out of cold draughts. A free-draining, gritty compost and a pot with holes will keep the roots happy.

It is native to Tanzania, in the Kondoa District. That tropical background is why it prefers steadier warmth than succulents from cooler, drier regions.
The milky latex irritates skin and eyes and is harmful if swallowed, as with all euphorbias. Wash your hands after handling and keep the plant out of reach of children and pets.
No, it stays low and spreading. It forms a compact cushion of short branching stems that widens over time rather than climbing upwards.
As much as you can give it. A bright windowsill with some direct sun keeps the growth tight and the colour good. In dim light the stems stretch and weaken.
Only when the compost has dried out. Water it well, let it drain, then wait until it is dry again. Through winter keep it nearly dry.
Euphorbia are architectural, low-maintenance plants that need bright light and infrequent watering. This guide covers care for all major types, with an important note on their toxic sap.
