Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' is an elegant vining plant known for its elongated, lance-shaped leaves adorned with silvery stripes along the leaf veins. The foliage is a striking blue-green with subtle silvery variegation that gives the plant a shimmering appearance, especially in bright, indirect light. Unlike other Epipremnum species with heart-shaped leaves, E. amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' has long, narrow leaves that create a graceful, cascading effect, making it ideal for hanging baskets, trellises, or as a statement plant in larger pots.
This plant is easy to care for and tolerant of a variety of indoor conditions, similar to other Epipremnum varieties. Its vining nature and adaptability make it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced indoor gardeners looking to add unique foliage to their plant collection.
Native to
Epipremnum amplissimum is native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and northern Australia, where it grows as an understory plant. It typically climbs trees or trails along the forest floor, thriving in shaded, humid conditions with filtered light.
Water
Water Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' when the top 2–3 cm of soil are dry. This plant is moderately drought-tolerant and prefers slightly dry soil between waterings rather than being kept consistently wet. Good drainage is important, so use a well-draining potting mix, and avoid letting the plant sit in standing water to prevent root rot.
Light
This plant prefers bright, indirect light but can adapt to moderate to low light conditions, making it suitable for various indoor spots. Brighter light will enhance its silver variegation, though direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent leaf burn. If grown in lower light, expect slower growth and slightly less pronounced variegation.
Humidity
Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' prefers moderate humidity levels, ideally between 50% and 60%, but it can tolerate average indoor humidity. Using a humidifier can be beneficial, especially during dry winter months, to keep the leaves vibrant and prevent browning at the edges.
Temperature
This plant thrives in typical indoor temperatures between 18°C and 26°C. It is sensitive to cold and should be kept away from temperatures below 12°C. Protect it from cold drafts or sudden temperature changes, as it prefers stable, warm environments that mimic its native tropical habitat.
