What actually is tissue culture?

Those cells are placed into a nutrient-rich jelly that contains everything the plant needs to grow (sugars, minerals and hormones). Because the whole process happens in perfectly clean, controlled conditions, growers can produce lots of healthy plants from a single parent without any pests or disease sneaking in. It might sound very high-tech, and in a way it is, but the end result is simply a happy young plant ready to continue its life in your home.
Is a tissue culture plant a genetic clone of the parent?
