Cercestis mirabilis is an uncommon aroid known for its strikingly large, arrow-shaped leaves that feature silvery-white variegation. The leaves emerge pale and gradually darken to a deep green while retaining intricate white or silver markings along the veins. It has a climbing or creeping growth habit, making it a great choice for indoor spaces where it can be trained to grow up a support. This plant is favoured for its bold foliage and unique appearance, which makes it an eye-catching addition to any indoor plant collection.
Native to
Cercestis mirabilis is native to the tropical rainforests of West and Central Africa, where it grows as a climber in the understory of dense forests. In these environments, the plant benefits from high humidity and dappled light, which should be replicated indoors to encourage its large, variegated leaves to develop properly.
Water
This plant prefers to be kept in consistently moist but not waterlogged soil. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. Using a well-draining potting mix, such as one designed for aroids, will help keep the roots healthy while providing enough moisture.
Light
Cercestis mirabilis thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch its delicate leaves, so it should be kept away from windows that receive intense light. It can tolerate lower light levels, but its growth will be slower, and the variegation may be less pronounced.
Humidity
High humidity, around 60% to 80%, is ideal for this plant. If grown in an enclosed environment like a large terrarium, it will thrive due to the consistently high humidity, especially as a young plant.
Temperature
The ideal temperature range for Cercestis mirabilis is between 18°C and 26°C. It does not tolerate cold temperatures well, so it should be kept away from draughts and areas where the temperature might dip below 16°C. A stable, warm environment will encourage healthy growth.

All plants are shipped in their plastic nursery pot unless otherwise stated.
Plant pot sizes can fluctuate +/- 1cm.
We recommend to always size up your decorative pot by 1-2cm larger than the stated plant pot size. For example if you are purchasing a 12cm plant, you should purchase a 14cm decorative pot to ensure it will fit correctly.
We pride ourselves on the love and care with give our plants. Our entire team are plant obsessives at heart and so we go above and beyond to care for the plants we have in stock.
That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for. Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting. The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
