Anthurium 'Michelle®' is a hybrid cultivar developed by Dr. Jeff Block, commonly known as Doc Block, a renowned American breeder specialising in Anthuriums. Named after his wife, this plant is an official tissue culture clone of the original 'Michelle' plant, ensuring genetic consistency. The plant is distinguished by its heart-shaped leaves that emerge in shades of burgundy-purple with reddish veins, maturing to dark green with a velvety sheen and contrasting white veins.
DocBlock® velvet-leaf Anthuriums are noted for their robust growth and distinctive appearance. Dr. Jeff Block selectively breeds Anthurium seedlings, introducing only those with the most favourable characteristics into the DocBlock line. This careful selection process ensures that each plant meets high standards, maintaining the collection's reputation within the rare plant niche. 'Michelle®' has been recognised for its unique foliage. The cultivar was awarded “Best New Flowering Plant” at the 2022 Tropical Plant International Expo (TPIE).

Native to:
Anthurium 'Michelle' is a man-made hybrid and does not occur in the wild. Its lineage reportedly includes Anthurium magnificum, a species native to Colombia, known for its large, velvety leaves.
Water:
Maintain consistent moisture in the soil, allowing the top third of the potting mix to dry out between waterings. Avoid letting the plant sit in water to prevent root rot.
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light may slow growth. An east or west-facing window with filtered light is ideal.
Humidity:
Thrives in high humidity environments, ideally between 60% and 80%. Regular misting or the use of a humidifier can help maintain these levels.
Temperature:
The optimal temperature range is between 15°C and 29°C. Avoid exposure to temperatures below 15°C, which can stress the plant.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for.
Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
