Shogun Silicon: The Samurai Armour for Your Variegated Gems

Think of Shogun Silicon as the protective armour of a Samurai Warrior for your indoor jungle. While Silicon isn't technically a "food" (your plants don't consume it for nutrition), it acts as the structural backbone they are often missing—especially crucial for delicate, variegated plants.

This highly concentrated formula enters the plant's structure via your nutrient solution, fortifying every single cell wall. The result is a plant with significantly enhanced strength that is ready to defend itself against the world.

Why It’s a Game Changer (Especially for Variegation)

  • Preserve Your Whites: Variegated tissue (the white or cream parts of the leaf) lacks chlorophyll and is structurally weaker than the green parts, making it prone to browning and "melting." Silicon reinforces these delicate cell walls, helping to keep those high-variegation sectors pristine for longer.

  • Structural Strength: It strengthens the very structure of the plant. If you are growing heavy climbers like Monstera Albo on a moss pole, this helps build sturdier stems to support massive foliage.

  • Pest & Disease Defence: By hardening the outer layer of the plant, it increases resistance to pest invasion and decreases the likelihood of rot or mildew issues penetrating the plant tissue.

  • Environmental Shield: It acts as a buffer against stress, specifically increasing resistance to heat stress, which often causes variegated leaves to crisp up.

  • pH Buffer: Adding this to your reservoir helps buffer and reduce the fluctuation of the pH of the nutrient solution.

The Golden Rule of Mixing

Correct mixing is essential! If you mix this wrong, you lose the benefits. When Shogun Silicon is dissolved in water with a pH lower than 7, it forms stable Silicic Acid—this is the magic compound your plants need. However, if the pH is above 7 when it meets Calcium or Magnesium (found in your main nutrients), it will turn cloudy and "drop out" of the solution, becoming useless.

Follow this strict order for every tank change:

  1. Add Shogun Silicon to plain water first (Rate: 1mL/L).

  2. Adjust your pH to just below 7.

  3. THEN add your other additives and base nutrients.

Usage

  • Rate: 1mL per Litre.

  • Frequency: Use throughout the entire life of the crop.

Pro-Tip: The Cloudiness Test If you see a plume of cloudy liquid appear when you mix your nutrients, you have done it in the wrong order! That cloudiness is your Calcium and Magnesium reacting and precipitating out of the solution. Always ensure the pH is below 7 before the Silicon and nutrients make contact.
