Hoya sp. Aceh, originating from the Aceh province of Sumatra, Indonesia, is a captivating cultivar of an undescribed species. This plant is noted for its elongated, pointed leaves that exhibit striking venation patterns and subtle splashy variegation.
Origins
Hoya sp. Aceh 'Long Leaf' is native to the Aceh province on the northern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia, where parent populations grow as epiphytes in warm, consistently humid lowland and lower-montane forests with bright, filtered light and high air humidity. The 'Long Leaf' form is a locally selected collection prized for its elongated foliage.
Soil and Substrate
As a Sumatran epiphyte, this hoya needs a sharply drained, airy substrate. Our Hoya Potting Mix is ideally suited.

Hoya sp Aceh 'Long Leaf' is an easy-care houseplant. It needs bright indirect light, watering only once the compost has dried right through, a little extra humidity and a minimum temperature of 10°C. It is listed as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
Easy care
Bright, indirect light
Bright, indirect light is best for this plant. It will tolerate some gentle morning or late afternoon sun, but avoid prolonged harsh midday or afternoon direct light, which can cause scorching or stress the leaves. Good light levels are especially important for strong, compact growth and for encouraging flowering. Hoyas kept in lower light often grow more slowly and are less likely to bloom. If natural light is limited, a grow light can help maintain healthy development.
Learn more →Let it dry out fully between waterings
Allow the substrate to dry out between waterings. Hoyas store moisture in their fleshy leaves and prefer to be slightly underwatered rather than overwatered. In winter, reduce watering further as growth slows.
Learn more →Prefers a little extra humidity
Thick, fleshy-leaved Hoyas store moisture in their leaves and tolerate drier air without complaint. Thinner-leaved species lose moisture faster and prefer higher humidity, ideally above 60%.
Keep above 10°C · Happy at normal room temperature
16–28°C suits most species. Keep above 12°C at all times and away from cold draughts. Hoyas benefit from a slight temperature drop at night, which can encourage flower production.
Feed monthly with a balanced fertiliser from spring to autumn, and let it rest over winter.
Listed as non-toxic to cats and dogs. Plants still are not food, so a determined chewer may get an upset stomach.
