Goodyera daibuzanensis is a jewel orchid native to Taiwan's mountainous forests. This terrestrial species is prized for its attractive foliage, featuring small, velvety green leaves adorned with intricate silver veining arranged in a rosette pattern. While its white flowers are modest, the plant's ornamental value lies primarily in its leaves.
Native to
Goodyera daibuzanensis is endemic to Taiwan, flourishing in humid, shaded forest environments at elevations between 800 and 2,000 meters. In its natural habitat, it grows terrestrially in leaf litter on the forest floor.
Water
Maintain consistently moist conditions by planting in sphagnum moss or a very well-draining mix. Avoid waterlogging, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot. Regular watering is essential, but allow the substrate's surface to become slightly dry between waterings.
Light
Provide low to medium indirect light, mimicking the dappled sunlight of its native understory habitat. Excessive light can cause leaf bleaching, diminishing the plant's characteristic contrast and velvety texture. A north or east-facing window with filtered light is ideal.
Humidity
High humidity levels, ideally between 60–80%, are crucial for Goodyera daibuzanensis. Regular misting, the use of a humidifier, or placement in a terrarium can help maintain appropriate humidity. Its compact size and humidity preferences make it well-suited for terrarium cultivation.
Temperature
This species prefers intermediate to warm temperatures, ranging from 18–24°C. Protect it from cold drafts and avoid placing it near heating or cooling vents, as sudden temperature changes can cause stress. Consistent temperatures within this range will support healthy growth.

Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
