🌿 Plant Care Tips

Narrow, pointed, and covered in red spots. Begonia amphioxus is immediately recognisable thanks to its unusual leaf shape: long, slender, and sharply pointed at both ends, like a green fang. Each leaf is dotted with raised, vivid red spots that stand out against the green surface, creating a pattern that looks almost deliberately designed. The plant stays compact and upright, with a delicate, airy habit. It is a terrarium favourite, thriving in the warm, humid, enclosed conditions that replicate its natural habitat.

Origins
Native to Borneo, Begonia amphioxus grows in humid tropical forest at moderate elevations, typically on damp, mossy surfaces in deep shade. It is uncommon in cultivation and prized by Begonia collectors.

Soil and Substrate
Our Simply Houseplant Tropical Potting Mix provides a suitable peat-free base, ideally amended with extra perlite for increased drainage.
