A small selection of plants that have been making me really happy lately 🤭🥰 A. Pap X-One x RVDP has been acclimating super well! This leaf was a growing emergent when the import arrived so I didn’t have much hope for it but the plant has proved me wrong! A. Carla (GPH001 x self) x Pap (RA5 x self) has been growing steadily and this new leaf just keeps expanding. Still hoping for an upsize from the last one — it’s very much red, just doesn’t show well in photos. A. Zara 29 x (Michelle x Zara 28) has me obsessed! This is the first leaf in my care and the upsize is just unbelievable. I love this plant so much! A. Queen of Hearts still looks like a baby but it’s just grown a cute lil cataphyll. Excited to see how big the next leaf can get now that the plant is starting to mature. A. Crystallinum offset has grown its first leaf in my care AND a cataphyll at the same time. I received this baby with my mother plant from GT when it already had two leaves. It’ll soon be going to my friend tinas.jungle and I can’t wait to see it thrive in her gorgeous collection! A. Portillae XDF x HU / KOS was part of my first KD import and did not appreciate being shipped one bit. It’s taken a few months to regrow roots, but it now seems to be happy and thriving in ambient. I’m super excited to watch this one grow as the leaves are already super dark. A. Warocqueanum was part of my very first Ecua import (I like to live life on the edge) and I did not make the acclimation easy on it or myself. After spending the last few months in ambient, this first leaf is growing well and the plant is perfectly happy in its new home. (A bush of) Alocasia Dragon Scale lives in my little alocasia corner in the living room and is the best grower of them all. This pot has 5 plants which are all upsizing with each new leaf and I really like the lush look of it. P. Patriciae had me at the edge of my seat for months, hoping it would finally do something to show a sign of life. For the longest time it just stayed as it was, but then gave me new roots and finally this beautiful new leaf which has only just unfurled. . . . #plantparenthood #aroid #anthurium #philodendron #alocasia

Lovely baby plant
Review by RP on 11 Dec 2024 review stating Lovely baby plant
The plant arrived well wrapped and secured, the soil was really dry though and the plant looked very sad and droopy. Thankfully it just needed a good drink and recovered in just a matter of hours. So far it is doing really well and has been repotted after about 2 weeks. Can't wait to see this one grow and mature!

I got #gifted this Alocasia Dragon Scale in April from growtropicals, and she’s finally starting to mature! 🌱💚 Watching her transformation has been absolutely magical. The baby leaves on the Dragon Scale start off so soft and delicate, with a lighter, almost translucent green. As they grow, they develop that signature deep green color and those stunning, intricate patterns that truly resemble dragon scales. 🐉✨ The texture changes too – from smooth and fragile to a tough, almost leathery feel. It’s like witnessing nature’s magic unfold right before my eyes! Seeing these changes reminds me why I love plant care so much. Each stage is a new surprise and a new reason to appreciate their unique beauty. 🌿✨ Have you noticed similar transformations in your plants? . . . . . . . . . . . #alocasiadragonscale #alocasia #plantrehab #houseplant #aroidaddict #plantaddict #plantlover #houseplantuk

🌿 Plant Care Tips

Alocasia 'Dragon Scale' is a stunning cultivar of Alocasia baginda, renowned for its large, deeply veined leaves that resemble dragon scales. Native to Borneo, this plant is a true statement piece, with its striking foliage and majestic appearance. The name 'baginda' means princely or kingly, reflecting the regal nature of this plant. The leaf undersides are a pale, almost white green with distinctive red veining, adding to its extraordinary visual appeal.

Native to: Alocasia 'Dragon Scale' originates from the tropical forests of Borneo, where it thrives in humid, shaded environments.

Water: Water Alocasia 'Dragon Scale' little and often, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Consistent moisture is crucial, but avoid letting the plant sit in standing water to prevent root rot. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Light: This plant thrives in medium to bright, indirect or filtered light. It can tolerate lower light levels but grows best when provided with ample indirect light. A position near a south, east, or north-facing window with filtered sunlight is ideal.

Humidity: Alocasia 'Dragon Scale' will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet, but like all tropical plants, it thrives in higher humidity levels. Aim for humidity levels around 60% or higher. To achieve this, consider grouping it with other plants, misting it regularly, or placing it in a bathroom or kitchen where humidity levels are naturally higher.

Temperature: Maintain a warm environment for your Alocasia 'Dragon Scale', ideally between 18°C to 26°C. Protect it from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C to ensure healthy growth. Stable, warm conditions will help this tropical plant flourish indoors.
