Codonanthe crassifolia is a small, trailing epiphyte that belongs to the Gesneriaceae family. This plant is prized for its thick, glossy leaves and delicate white to pinkish tubular flowers. The stems are slender and can cascade, making it a good choice for hanging planters or shelves. Over time, it forms a dense mat of greenery, with small fleshy leaves that can hold moisture, a trait adapted from its epiphytic nature. Flowers are often followed by small, berry-like fruits, though flowering is more likely with optimal light and humidity.
Native to
Codonanthe crassifolia is native to the tropical rainforests of Brazil, where it grows as an epiphyte on trees. It thrives in warm, shaded environments with high humidity, drawing moisture and nutrients from the air and decaying plant matter.
Water
Water when the top layer of the soil dries out, allowing it to drain thoroughly. This plant prefers a consistently moist environment but does not tolerate waterlogged conditions, as its epiphytic roots are adapted to well-aerated spaces.
Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal for Codonanthe crassifolia. Too much direct sunlight can cause leaf burn, while too little light may inhibit flowering and slow growth. A position near a north or east-facing window works well.
Humidity
High humidity, ideally above 60%, is preferred by Codonanthe crassifolia. In lower humidity environments, though this plant is also well-suited for growing in a terrarium due to its preference for consistently moist air.
Temperature
Maintain indoor temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Codonanthe crassifolia is sensitive to cold drafts and should be kept away from windows during the winter months, as temperatures below 15°C can cause damage.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for.
Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting so they are in active growth when arriving with you.
The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
