🌿 Plant Care Tips

Ficus pumila, also known as the creeping fig, is a vigorous, self-clinging climber that attaches itself to walls, supports, and surfaces using tiny aerial rootlets. Its small, heart-shaped leaves grow densely along fine stems, creating a lush, textured carpet of green. It works equally as a hanging houseplant, climbing a small trellis, or creeping through a terrarium. It fills space quickly and adds a living, green texture that few other plants can match at this scale.

Origins
Native to East Asia, from China and Japan through to Vietnam and Indonesia, Ficus pumila grows in warm, humid environments, clinging to rocks, walls, and tree trunks in both sun and shade. Its self-clinging habit makes it one of the most effective natural climbers for indoor use.

Soil and Substrate
Our Simply Houseplant Tropical Potting Mix suits creeping fig well: a balanced peat-free blend with good moisture retention and drainage. Keep the substrate consistently moist but not waterlogged. It tolerates lower light than many houseplants but grows fastest and fullest in bright, indirect conditions.
