Due to its smaller stature and preference for indirect light, it thrives in homes, and offices where space is at a premium, while still being tolerant of typical indoor conditions.
Native to
Chamaedorea elegans 'Tiny Lizzy' originates from the rainforests of Mexico and Guatemala. In the wild, it grows under the dense forest canopy, which is why it does well in low-light environments. Its natural habitat provides plenty of moisture and indirect sunlight, conditions that this cultivar can adapt to indoors.
Water
This plant prefers to be kept evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, ensuring that the water drains well. Overwatering should be avoided as this can lead to root rot, but it’s essential to maintain a regular watering schedule to mimic its native humid environment.
Light
'Tiny Lizzy' thrives in low to medium, indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the delicate leaves. However, it can adapt to lower light levels, making it ideal for dimmer rooms or areas away from windows.
Humidity
Moderate to high humidity is preferred, around 50-70%. It will also do well in a terrarium setting due to its compact size and humidity needs.
Temperature
This plant does best in average household temperatures, ideally between 18-24°C. It is sensitive to cold draughts and should be kept away from windows or doors where temperatures may drop below 15°C. Maintaining stable indoor conditions will ensure healthy growth.
