Begonia goegoensis is a rare rhizomatous species native to the rainforests of Goego, Sumatra. It is distinguished by its rounded leaves, which display a quilted pattern of green and bronze, accented with lighter, spiderweb-like veining. The undersides of the leaves are a deep red, contributing to its unique appearance. 

Native to Begonia goegoensis originates from the tropical rainforests of Goego in Sumatra, Indonesia. In its natural habitat, it thrives in humid, warm conditions with consistent moisture and well-draining soil.

Water Maintain consistent soil moisture by watering every 3 to 4 days, allowing the top half-inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Use distilled, rain, or aquarium water to prevent mineral buildup. Avoid overwatering, as this species is susceptible to root rot.

Light Provide bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch. If natural light is insufficient, especially during UK winters, supplement with fluorescent grow lights to ensure adequate illumination.

Humidity High humidity around 70% is essential for optimal growth, making this plant well-suited for terrarium cultivation. If a terrarium is not feasible, increase humidity by placing the plant on a pebble tray with water or using a humidifier.

Temperature Maintain indoor temperatures between 21°C to 24°C (70°F to 75°F). Protect the plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations, as exposure to temperatures below 12°C (54°F) can cause leaf drop and stress.
