Native to: Labisia sp. Riau is native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia. It grows naturally under the dense canopy of the forest, thriving in shaded and humid conditions.
Water: Water Labisia sp. Riau thoroughly, allowing the top 2 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. It prefers consistently moist soil but is sensitive to waterlogging, so good drainage is essential. Adjust the watering frequency based on the plant's environment, reducing it in more humid conditions.
Light: This plant thrives in low to medium light conditions, making it suitable for spots away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can scorch its leaves, so it's best placed where it receives filtered or indirect light, mimicking its natural understory habitat.
Humidity: High humidity levels between 70% and 90% are ideal for Labisia sp. Riau. If indoor humidity is low, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a pebble tray with water to maintain the necessary moisture levels. It is also an excellent candidate for terrariums due to its high humidity requirements.
Temperature: Maintain a temperature range of 20°C to 28°C for optimal growth. Labisia sp. Riau is sensitive to cold and should be kept away from drafts and temperatures below 15°C. It prefers the warm, stable temperatures reminiscent of its native tropical climate.
