Its rarity makes it a desirable addition to any plant enthusiast’s collection, though it can be challenging to find in typical garden centres or nurseries, often requiring purchase from specialised retailers or collectors.

Native to: Maranta cristata 'Intense' originates from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, especially Brazil, where it thrives in warm and humid understory environments.

Water: This cultivar prefers consistently moist soil. Water it when the top inch of soil is dry, ensuring that the plant never dries out completely. Be cautious not to overwater, as it is susceptible to root rot. Well-draining soil is essential to keep the roots healthy.

Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal for maintaining the vibrant coloration of the leaves. Direct sunlight can scorch the foliage, while too little light may reduce the vibrancy of its patterns. It can tolerate low light, but the colours may not be as intense.

Humidity: High humidity levels of 60% to 70% are crucial for Maranta cristata 'Intense'. This plant thrives in a terrarium setting where humidity can be maintained, but in regular indoor conditions, a humidifier or pebble tray can help achieve the necessary moisture.

Temperature: Maintain a warm environment with temperatures between 18°C to 25°C. The plant does not tolerate cold temperatures well and should be kept away from drafts and sudden temperature changes. Keep it indoors during the colder months to ensure it remains healthy.

All plants are shipped in their plastic nursery pot unless otherwise stated.

Plant pot sizes can fluctuate +/- 1cm.

We recommend to always size up your decorative pot by 1-2cm larger than the stated plant pot size. For example if you are purchasing a 12cm plant, you should purchase a 14cm decorative pot to ensure it will fit correctly.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for. Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting. The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
