I know, I know… you’re probably tired of hearing me gush about my variegated Alocasia Frydek, but just LOOK at this new leaf she gifted me right before plantwithlucy became her adopted mother! 🌱💚 Isn’t it gorgeous?! The creamy whites blend so perfectly with the deep greens, creating this beautiful marbled effect. The splotches of marbled green is in exactly the right place to blend in with the creamy whites. And that velvety texture? It’s unreal! 😍 The way the foliage stands out with those crisp, bold veins running through just adds another layer of elegance. Each new leaf feels like a masterpiece, and I’m completely obsessed! 🌿✨ . . . . . . . . . . #houseplant #aroidaddict #plantaddict #plantlover #alocasia #alocasiafrydekvariegata

My Alocasia Frydek variegated is finally doing something amazing—she’s sizing up, and it’s been so worth the wait! 🌿✨ It took her about a year, but she’s finally growing to her full potential, and I couldn’t be more excited to see these stunning leaves thrive. The foliage on this plant is nothing short of spectacular. The deep, velvety green leaves with those striking white variegations are like nature’s artwork. 🌱🎨 Each leaf is uniquely patterned, with the variegation creating beautiful contrasts that make the plant look like it’s glowing from within. As she’s grown, the leaves have become even more dramatic, with larger, more defined shapes and those iconic elongated heart forms that make the Frydek so special. What’s really exciting is how much the new growth has sized up since I removed a second set of corms. The fresh leaves are significantly larger and healthier, showing off even more of that stunning variegation. 🌿💚 I also feel like the fertilizer I’ve been using—Nurture System Power Grow—has played a huge role in this transformation. The nutrients are clearly giving her the boost she needed to reach her full potential. Seeing her finally take off has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m loving how each new leaf seems to outshine the last. 🌱✨ Do any of you have a plant that took its time to grow but ended up being totally worth the wait? Let’s share our stories and celebrate the slow but beautiful journey of plant care! 🌿🌟 . . . . . . . . . . . #houseplant #aroidaddict #plantaddict #plantlover #houseplantuk #alocasia #alocasiafrydekvariegated #alocasiasunday

We’ve been a little obsessed with variegated Alocasia recently, ever since our melo produced a stunning half-moon variegated pup (few posts down from this one). In the spotlight this week: Alocasia Frydek Variegated 🌿 Native to the Philippines, this leaf has thin, almost papery matte leaves that are soft to the touch. We’re lucky enough to have a few of these growing in our greenhouse, including the largest we’ve ever seen thanks to our wonderful Horticulturalists. We will be sure to share a photo of it on our stories soon. #alocasiafrydekvariegated #plantlover #alocasiafrydek #alocasia #velvetleaf #darkleaf #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantsofinstagram #tropicalplants #houseplants #indoorplants #jungleplants#aroid #growtropicals @plantkrupt

🌿 Plant Care Tips

The hybrid of two 'unicorn' Anthurium. Anthurium papillilaminum is celebrated for its large, velvety, heart-shaped leaves that exhibit a deep olive-green hue. The foliage has a leathery texture and a subtle velvet sheen. As a slow-growing species, it maintains a manageable size, making it ideal for indoor cultivation. The true form of Anthurium besseae is rarely offered and is a striking addition to rare anthurium collections.

Water

This plant prefers consistently moist but well-draining soil. Water the plant when the top inch of the soil feels dry to the touch, ensuring that the potting mix remains slightly moist without becoming waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's crucial to allow excess water to drain away and avoid letting the plant sit in standing water.

Light

Anthurium thrive in bright, indirect light. While they can tolerate lower light levels, optimal growth and leaf development occur with ample indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight should be avoided, as it can cause leaf scorch and damage the plant's delicate foliage.

Humidity

High humidity levels are beneficial for Anthurium, ideally between 60% and 80%. In typical indoor environments, maintaining humidity around 55% is often sufficient. If humidity levels are lower, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a tray with moist pebbles to increase local humidity.

Temperature

This species prefers temperatures between 21°C and 32°C. It is sensitive to temperatures below 16°C and may struggle in excessively warm conditions. Maintaining a stable temperature within this range supports healthy growth and development.
