Native to
Agave potatorum originates from central Mexico, particularly from the regions of Oaxaca and Puebla, where it grows in dry, rocky terrain. In its natural habitat, this species is adapted to harsh conditions with poor, well-drained soils. The variegated form adds a unique twist to the species' natural appearance, featuring creamy-yellow margins that contrast with the muted green and blue-grey centre.
Water
This Agave is highly drought-tolerant and requires minimal watering. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between watering sessions. During winter, reduce watering significantly as the plant enters dormancy. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so well-draining soil is crucial.
Light
Provide bright, indirect light for optimal growth. Agave potatorum 'Ouji-Raijin Variegated' can also tolerate some direct sunlight, but avoid intense midday sun, which can scorch the leaves unless the plant has been slowly acclimated to those conditions. South or west-facing windows are ideal.
Humidity
Low humidity is preferred, making this plant well-suited to typical indoor conditions. It does not require additional humidity and thrives in drier environments, which mirrors its native arid habitat.
Temperature
This Agave prefers a warm environment and should be kept in temperatures between 16–27°C. It is not frost-tolerant, so ensure it is kept away from cold drafts or extreme temperature fluctuations, particularly during winter.

All plants are shipped in their plastic nursery pot unless otherwise stated.
Plant pot sizes can fluctuate +/- 1cm.
We recommend to always size up your decorative pot by 1-2cm larger than the stated plant pot size. For example if you are purchasing a 12cm plant, you should purchase a 14cm decorative pot to ensure it will fit correctly.
We pride ourselves on the love and care with give our plants. Our entire team are plant obsessives at heart and so we go above and beyond to care for the plants we have in stock.
That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for. Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting. The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
