Philodendron sharoniae is a stunning aroid with long, deeply lobed leaves with striking peach-coloured emergent that create a dramatic display in any indoor setting. Known for its unique foliage, this philodendron adds a touch of tropical elegance to home interiors and is relatively easy to care for, making it a popular choice among plant enthusiasts.
Native to: Philodendron sharoniae is native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, particularly found in countries such as Colombia and Ecuador. It thrives in the understory of these humid forests, where it receives filtered light and ample moisture.
Water: Water your Philodendron sharoniae when the top 2-3 cm of soil has dried out. This plant prefers a consistent moisture level but is susceptible to root rot if left in waterlogged soil. Ensure the pot has good drainage, and avoid letting the plant sit in excess water. Reduce watering during the cooler months when the plant's growth slows down.
Light: This plant flourishes in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch its leaves, so it's best placed in a spot where it receives filtered light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but may exhibit slower growth and less vibrant foliage in such environments.
Humidity: Philodendron sharoniae thrives in high humidity levels of around 60% to 80%. If the air in your home is dry, especially in winter, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a pebble tray with water. This plant is also well-suited for terrariums, which can provide the consistently high humidity it loves.
Temperature: Maintain indoor temperatures between 18°C to 26°C for optimal growth. Philodendron sharoniae does not tolerate cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C. Keeping it in a warm, stable environment similar to its native tropical habitat will promote healthy growth and vibrant foliage.
