The plant arrived well wrapped and secured, the soil was really dry though and the plant looked very sad and droopy. Thankfully it just needed a good drink and recovered in just a matter of hours. So far it is doing really well and has been repotted after about 2 weeks. Can't wait to see this one grow and mature!

I got #gifted this Alocasia Dragon Scale in April from growtropicals, and she’s finally starting to mature! 🌱💚 Watching her transformation has been absolutely magical.
The baby leaves on the Dragon Scale start off so soft and delicate, with a lighter, almost translucent green. As they grow, they develop that signature deep green color and those stunning, intricate patterns that truly resemble dragon scales. 🐉✨ The texture changes too – from smooth and fragile to a tough, almost leathery feel. It’s like witnessing nature’s magic unfold right before my eyes!
Seeing these changes reminds me why I love plant care so much. Each stage is a new surprise and a new reason to appreciate their unique beauty. 🌿✨

Scientific name: Alocasia baginda ‘Dragon Scale’
Potting medium: growtropicals Alocasia Mix
Level of care: Hard
Comment: So the mother plant had root rot and dropped like 5 leaves 😭. Also it was my mistake for experimenting with leca with her. But the teen plant is doing okay ish. So hopefully they’ll be doing great under my care.

I’m a little sad it was damaged in transit, the biggest leaf was super bent. I hoped it would get better and unfold or straighten out with time, unfortunately it ended up with an open hole. It’s a shame because this is the top leaf and it’ll be the centre of attention until another 3-4 leaves pop out… so quite a while. I’m not saying the plant isn’t beautiful, it is, but the shipping for it has not been the best and so she looks a little sad.

Of all the alocasia I own, this has to be my all time favourite. ☺️
This plant is one of my newest plants that I own and has beautifully patterned leaves that I could stare at all day (I guess that’s where the name comes from!)
I don’t have the best rep with alocasias, so I’m hoping this one doesn’t drop all it’s leaves in the winter. 🙈
