Alocasia 'Simpo' is a unique hybrid known for its ornamental, highly textured foliage, which makes it an excellent choice for indoor growing. The plant's leaves are thick, glossy, and feature a deeply puckered, bullate surface—a trait inherited from one of its parent species, Alocasia sinuata. This species, native to the Philippines, is renowned for its compact size and decorative leaves.

The other parent, Alocasia 'Lukiwan', contributes to the plant's overall robustness and striking appearance. The combination of these two parent plants results in Alocasia 'Simpo', a resilient and visually appealing hybrid that thrives under indoor conditions.

Native to: Alocasia 'Simpo' does not have a natural habitat as it is a hybrid. However, its parent species, particularly Alocasia sinuata, are native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, where they thrive in humid, shaded environments.

Water: This plant prefers consistently moist but well-draining soil. Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry out slightly between waterings to avoid waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. During winter dormancy, reduce the watering frequency.

Light: Alocasia 'Simpo' thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the leaves. An east-facing window or a spot with filtered sunlight is ideal.

Humidity: High humidity levels, ideally above 60%, are essential for maintaining the health and vibrancy of Alocasia 'Simpo'. It can be grown near a humidifier or on a pebble tray with water to increase local humidity, making it suitable for terrariums if space permits.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Alocasia 'Simpo' is between 18°C and 29°C. The plant is sensitive to cold drafts and sudden temperature changes, so it should be kept away from windows or doors that might cause such fluctuations, especially in winter.

All plants are shipped in their plastic nursery pot unless otherwise stated.

Plant pot sizes can fluctuate +/- 1cm.

We recommend to always size up your decorative pot by 1-2cm larger than the stated plant pot size. For example if you are purchasing a 12cm plant, you should purchase a 14cm decorative pot to ensure it will fit correctly.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for. Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting. The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
