Alocasia 'Green Unicorn,' a brand new release in 2021 by hybridizer Lindsay Sisti of @alltheplantbabies, is a stunning hybrid between Alocasia azlanii and Alocasia baginda ‘Dragon Scale.’ The name 'Green Unicorn' reflects the term "unicorn" used in the houseplant collecting hobby to describe a beautiful, highly sought-after, uncommon plant. True to its name, this Alocasia captivates with its unique and attractive appearance.

Native to: Although Alocasia 'Green Unicorn' is a cultivated hybrid and not found in the wild, its parent plants hail from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia.

Growth Pattern: This Alocasia grows in a tuberous manner and bushes outwards. At full maturity, it reaches roughly 30 cm high and 50 cm wide, creating a compact yet lush presence in your indoor garden.

Water: Water the plant thoroughly when the soil is almost dry. This variety requires little and frequent watering to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Proper drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

Light: Alocasia 'Green Unicorn' thrives in medium to bright, indirect or filtered light. Direct sunlight can scorch its leaves, so it’s best placed in a location where it receives ample indirect light, such as near a north or east-facing window.

Humidity: Unlike Alocasia azlanii, Alocasia 'Green Unicorn' can tolerate lower humidity levels. However, like most Alocasias, it will thrive in higher humidity environments. If your indoor air is particularly dry, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant in a naturally humid room like a bathroom or kitchen.

Temperature: Maintain a stable temperature range between 18°C to 26°C for optimal growth. Avoid exposing the plant to cold drafts or sudden temperature changes, which can cause stress and damage to the foliage.

All plants are shipped in their plastic nursery pot unless otherwise stated.

Plant pot sizes can fluctuate +/- 1cm.

We recommend to always size up your decorative pot by 1-2cm larger than the stated plant pot size. For example if you are purchasing a 12cm plant, you should purchase a 14cm decorative pot to ensure it will fit correctly.

That said, plants are living beings and may differ slightly from the photo provided unless otherwise stated. Small leaf imperfections may be present and won't be compensated for. Some plants such as Begonia may suffer slight leaf melt when shipped. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

All our plants are stores and/or grown in our nursery under LED lighting. The conditions in our nursery are a minimum of 60% humidity and 19C year round.
