Native to: Monstera cf. obliqua “Los Tayos” originates from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, particularly around the Los Tayos cave system in Ecuador.
Water: Water this plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. It is crucial to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Always ensure excess water drains away to prevent root rot.
Light: This plant prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the delicate leaves. A spot near an east or west-facing window with filtered light is ideal. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but this may slow its growth.
Humidity: High humidity is essential for Monstera cf. obliqua “Los Tayos,” ideally between 60% and 80%. Use a humidifier, mist the plant regularly, or place it on a pebble tray with water to maintain these levels. Terrariums are particularly suitable as they naturally provide a humid environment.
Temperature: This plant thrives in temperatures ranging from 18°C to 26°C. Avoid exposing it to temperatures below 15°C, as it is sensitive to cold. Keeping it in a warm, stable environment will promote healthy growth.
