🌿 Plant Care Tips

Attractive for its large, lanceolate leaves with green bases and bright yellow striped variegation. Native to India and East Asia.

  • Commonly known as the variegated Shell Ginger or Light Galangal.
  • Leaves have a gorgeous, ginger scent when torn or crushed and can be used for cooking and medicinal purposes.
  • While the regular Alpinia Zerumbet leaves have diverse use in Asia, this cultivar is primarily grown as an ornamental, statement plant due to its striking variegation.

Growth pattern: Rhizomatous, upright & clumping

Water: When the top 2-3cm of soil becomes dry.

Ideal Position: South or east facing

Light: Bright, indirect light. Can take some direct light.

Recommended Substrate: Jungle Mix

Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
