Monstera adansonii subsp. blanchetii is a very rare Monstera with large leaves featuring distinctive fenestrations (holes). As a subspecies of Monstera adansonii, it shares similar care requirements but is noted for its acute leaf shape and more pronounced fenestrations.
Native to: Central and South America, including regions such as Peru, Ecuador, and southern Mexico.
Water: Maintain consistently moist soil during the growing season (spring and summer), watering when the top layer of the soil feels dry. Reduce watering frequency in autumn and winter, allowing the soil to dry out slightly more between waterings. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, growth may be slower, and leaf perforations may be less pronounced.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity levels, ideally between 60-70%. Regular misting, placing the plant on a tray of pebbles filled with water, or using a humidifier can help maintain adequate humidity. Its humidity requirements make it suitable for placement in humid areas like bathrooms or kitchens.
Temperature: Favours temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid exposure to temperatures below 12°C, as this can cause stress and hinder growth.
